Polo Bebe

For the water polo player who has everything including a newborn or toddler!

Our new line of bathing suits and caps for tots...

I've been watching water polo for several years... ever since my son had a dream to be on the US Olympic water polo team and I attended many matches in many pools in many cities throughout the US and the world. One thing that always struck me was that it looked like the players, who were playing the toughest sport there is, looked like they were wearing baby bonnets with straps tied under their chins. We're talking about a sport in which the players are swimming 2 to 3 miles in a pool well over their heads, passing and shooting a ball that they can only touch with one hand into the soccer-type goal all the while being wrestled by their opponents and attacked beneath the surface where the refs can't see what's going on all without a leg to stand on since they are not allowed to touch the bottom or sides of the pool. So their attire seemed to be at odds with the rigor of the game they were playing.

Eventually he went on to make the team in 1996 in Atlanta against the odds since water polo is a California dominated sport in this country and we were living in NYC! From there he continued to Sydney in 2000 and to Athens in 2004 as captain of the US Olympic water polo team! In 2008 in Beijing our men's and women's teams both took the silver medals ...so water polo is HOT.

Now he and his teammates are having kids of their own so I decided to design and produce the very suits and caps that looked like baby bonnets for the BABIES themselves. I enlisted my long time designer friend Kathie Keller, who had designed my dress for the first commercial I had ever booked in New York, to make up the first samples and to be my partner. She did a fantastic job and we enjoyed working together to create POLOBEBE a global company born to stylishly dress the budding Michael Phelps' and Dara Torres' and the future water polo champions of the world! The caps work well to protect the babies ears from water splashes, keep their hair out of the way as they learn, and to protect their precious head from the sun outdoors.

Visit our home at http://www.polobebe.us/ and choose a pink suit for girls, blue for boys or a red "Beijing Olympics 2008 suit with a panda on it in both boys' and girls' styles. To the future Olympic stars...happy swimming!

MAJAMAS

Majamas is one of the best known brands for nursing clothing in the country. It all started with The Original Nursing Top. Owner and founder Germaine Caprio was tired of wearing a nursing bra 24 hours a day and designed a top to replace her bras. Nordstrom bought the tank top which turned into the patented, number one selling garment called The Original Nursing Top and now comes in many colors.

Majamas rule for designing fashion pieces is that the garment must look like something pulled from a high end fashion butique. No hooks or apron fronts can be on our nursing tops and all garments designed must work for a woman from pregnancy through her baby's nursing years. Adopting trends in New York, Los Angeles and Europe and stick very close to what is being done in the fashion market. In-house trending, pattern making, fit, and design to produce a collection so current, many women who aren't pregnant buy our clothes.

OOH LA LA MAMA has a fan in Jenny McCarthy

After receiving incredibly original and hip ts from Ooh La La Mama for 6 children that were to be on the cover of her new book out in April, Jenny McCarthy also asked Cindy from Ooh La La Mama if her son would like to be one of the six children!! If you haven't checked them out - you don't know what your missing... if it's good enough for the children of celebs like Jessica Alba, Laila Ali and Jenny McCarthy, then it's good enough for your little monsters or pretty princesses...right?! Their ts, onesies and rompers are incredible soft, but you have to get your own at: www.oohlalamama.com/! Definately not the boring duds from the mall.

Snug Fits

If it weren't for humor, it would be difficult to survive parenthood. And for many of us, we would have checked into the proverbial funny farm long ago. It starts out with a bang - and never lets up. Premature deliveries, sleepless nights, colic, poop explosions, non-stop crying... the list goes on.

But one mom took things into her own hands and created a cool line of baby tees and onesies celebrating the underlying humor of it all. And they're not just funny, these are some well made tees. Constructed from pre-shrunk 100% cotton, they're as thick, soft and comfy as they come.

Founder and designer Sara Reider used her background in graphic design and typography to launch Snugfits.com, an online baby boutique. Sara offers a wide selection of onesies, shirts, hats and pants that can be customized in fabric color, ink color, sleeve length and size (preemie up to 18-24 months).
Her designs are sure to make you laugh with sayings such as "recovering colic", "cry baby" and "sleep is for the weak". The collection of preemie tees include clever phrases like "I'm here!" and "preemie donna". She also has some great sets for twins like "copycat" and "perfect pair" that you can indulge your babies in.

In addition to fashion, Sara aims to provide support and share funny stories with fellow parents. Along with husband Brett, she created her own parenting blog - designed to discuss anything having to do with being a parent.
On a more serious note, Sara plans to “give back, literally”. 10% of all proceeds from Snugfits™ are donated to Surfers Healing, a foundation near and dear to her heart. Her oldest son, Gavin, has been diagnosed with Autism, a lifelong neurological disorder that impairs normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. She started enrolling Gavin in the Surfers Healing camps when he was 2 years old. The camps are free to families who want to participate. The children are offered sensory relief and calmness on the water, along with a sense of pride and accomplishment on the surf board.

Snugfits™ can be found in several boutiques across the U.S. and Canada, or by visiting the company's website at http://www.snugfits.com/. Priced at $20.00 with free shipping in the USA, the onesies and baby tees are perfect for a baby shower, birthday or holiday gift and can be gift wrapped in a reusable organza drawstring bag upon request. Wholesale inquiries are welcome. Further information about Snugfits™ baby apparel may be obtained by making contact through the website or by calling (910) 447-0120.

OBLI Organics

OBLI Organics was founded by two sisters, one with two young children and the other expecting her first… both of whom have strong career experience in marketing. Both looking for an opportunity to do work that mattered in a creative environment while keeping family a priority. An organic clothing company that allowed them the opportunity to be stewards of the environment fit the bill.

Both Michelle Young and Melissa Blanco are athletic, well-traveled and blessed to come from a family that appreciates nature and outdoor living. When the family was struck with three cases of breast cancer within a year in 1999, the sisters turned their appreciation for life into a personal education and dedication to organic foods, which became a mainstay for them both. “It doesn’t guarantee our lives will be cancer-free, but making the effort to avoid unnecessary chemicals and pesticides makes sense to us,” said Young.

A dream to form a family company was always a dream that inspired countless discussions during holiday gatherings. During a weekend birthday celebration in April of 2007, Michelle and Melissa discussed a recent episode of Oprah featuring working Moms who started their own successful companies from home. Later that week Melissa forwarded Michelle a link to the Rachel Ray show on “Millionaire Moms” and the very next day the idea for OBLI Organics (an acronym for On Borrowed Land, Inc.) was born.

The idea fit the sisters’ original goals and proved to be a natural outgrowth of their beliefs and lifestyle. After some internet research, Melissa connected with the Organic Trade Association (OTA) and two weeks later the sisters flew to Chicago to attend the OTA’s annual All Things Organic trade show. While at the show, they delved into the new industry attending seminars and workshops on the organic textile movement; walking the show floor and meeting with other retail owners.

Michelle’s advertising agency background following 10 years in resort and club marketing complements Melissa’s position of more than 8 years experience in relationship and marketing management for a Fortune 100 company. Melissa’s specific experience in marketing channels and customer satisfaction is a tremendous asset to launching OBLI Organics. The exciting and most challenging part was learning the retail industry -- something completely new to both of them.

OBLI Organics offers a private line of children’s clothing and doggie fashions produced using only 100% certified organic cotton and manufactured under Fair Trade practices. The sisters wanted to stick to their goal of offering hip and trendy clothing with an “ecolectual” edge in order to appeal to the mainstream. This allows OBLI to educate their clients along with way by providing additional information about living green, buying organic and fair trade practices on the company’s website. OBLI Organics has trademarked the term “ecolectual,” meaning guided or motivated by an intelligent respect for the environment. Michelle and Melissa hope to “spread the ecolectual initiative” and OBLI is the perfect conduit!

“It’s not always realistic to expect everyone to buy organic and live “green” all the time,” says Melissa. “However, everyone making small efforts can return big results. This is the message we want to send.”
